The
Immoralist
Nick Kushner, The
Immoralist, 2010. Human blood. 22”x30”
About Nick Kushner:
Kushner is a New York
based artist who uses his blood as pigment in his paintings. He first started
using blood in his art at age 15. His art taps into the darker recesses of the
human psyche with surreal imagery that is driven by his knowledge of the occult
and by his life experiences. His first exhibition was featured in downtown Los
Angeles and was attended by Marilyn Manson himself.
About the Piece:
The Immoralist
is a self-portrait made from his own blood. Kushner likens his work to “Art
as modern-day alchemy by the literal and complete immersion within it, using
the most personal and symbolic medium innately possible."
